In a party of school, 290 tickets had been sold. if the selling price to the student in the school is one dollar and for his guest the selling price is 3 dollars. the selling price for all sold tickets is 490$, find then number of sold tickets from each kind

    S + g = 290 ... s = 290 - g

    s + 3g = 490

    290 - g + 3g = 490

    2g = 490 - 290

    2g = 200

    g = 200/2

    g = 100 < = = = 100 guest tickets were sold

    s + g = 290

    s + 100 = 290

    s = 290 - 100

    s = 190 < = = = 190 student tickets sold
