3 (x + 2) + 4 (x - 5) = 10
Distribute the outside numbers in.
(3x + 6) + (4x - 20) = 10
Combine like terms.
7x - 14 = 10
Isolate the 7x by adding 14 to both sides.
7x = 24
Divide by 7 on both sides to get x alone.
x = 3.42857
