    7x^2 - 16x - 8 = 0

    using the quadratic formula x = [ - (-16) + / - sqrt ((-16^2 - 4*7-8] / 2*7

    = (16 + / 1 sqrt 480) / 14

    = 2.71, - 0.42 to nearest hundredth
