This is the concept of calculus, we are required to calculate the following limit.

    lim as x→-3 (-x+4x+3)

plugging our values in f (x) we get:

    ( - (-3) + 4 (-3) + 3)

    =3-12+3

    =-3

    therefore:

    lim as x←-3 f (x) = - 3
