    x - slower car

    3x faster car

    D = distance traveled by slower car

    D = distance traveled by faster car

    D+d = 129

    Both cars traveled for 2 hours

    D=2x

    d=2 (3x) = 6x

    2x+6x = 129

    8x = 129

    x=129/8 = 16.125 miles per hour
