The fastest route is to go along the dirt road (8 miles) at 12 miles per hour because the large hill (5 miles) at 10 miles an hour would take him 30 minutes, the windy road (7 miles) at 9 miles per hour would take 45 minutes and the dirt road (8 miles) at 12 miles per hour would take 20 minutes therefore if he needed to get to the house as fast as he could he would take the dirt road.
