A common factor is a factor that both numbers have in common, a factor is a number that's multiplied by another number to make the product, and a common factor is a shared factor. 12 and 6 both have common factors of 2, 3 and 6, 2x6=12, 2x3=6 3x4=12 and 6x1=6

T he highest number that divides exactly into two or more numbers. When we find all the factors of two or more numbers, and some factorsare the same ("common "), then the largest of those common factors is the Greatest Common Factor. Abbreviated "GCF".
