An office manager needs to decide between two tables for the conference room. One is rectangular, 5 feet wide by 10 feet long. The other is a circle with an 8-foot diameter.

a. Find the perimeter or circumference of each table.

b. Find the area of each table.

c. Which table can seat more people? Explain.

    Radius of circle = 4

    a) circle circumference=2 (pi) r

    circumference=2 (pi) 4=25.13

    P=2W+2L

    p=2 (5) + 2 (10)

    P=30

    b) area of circle=pi (r^2) = pi (16) = 50.27

    area of rectangle=L*W = 5*10 = 50
