What is the equation for this

on a trip cliff drove 35 miles more than half the number of miles that Edwin drove together they drove 164 miles how many miles did each Drive

    164:2=82

    cliff drove 82+35=117

    so therefore Edwin drove 164-117=47

    164/2 and add 35 to that number so cliff drove 177
