    To have an infinite number of solutions, the equations have to be the same ... or equivalent.

    -5 (x + 2) + 3x =

    -5x - 10 + 3x =

    -2x - 10 =

    -2 (x + 5) ... so ur original equation can be broken down to this ...

    so - 5 (x + 2) + 3x = - 2 (x + 5) would produce infinite solutions because it is basically the same expression <=
