What is the answer to 2 (6b + 8) = 4 + 6b

    Step 1. Distribute the 2 into the parenthesis (we do this because the whole parenthesis and the 2 are multiplying)

    Step 2. Get "b" by itself. (to solve for a letter like b, we need to have it on one side of the equal sign)

    Step3. Divide by 6 because we are undoing the multiplication of 6timesB. (what you do on one side you do to the other side) divide the 6 into the - 12.

    There you go the answer is B = - 2
