Silver has a density of 10.5 grams/cm3 and gold has a density of 19.3 g/cm3. Which would have the greater mass 5cm3 of silver or 5cm3 of gold?

    For this we can work out how much each metal will weigh:

    Silver = 10.5 * 5 = 52.5g

    Gold = 19.3 * 5 = 96.5g

    From this we can clearly see that a greater density gives a greater mass so the gold is heavier.
