What is the mean in math?

The mean is the average. You find it by adding all of the numbers in your set together, and then dividing that sum by the number of numbers that you have. For example, this is my set:

12 32 11 8 24

I would add those number together

12 + 32 + 11 + 8 + 24 = 87

Then I would divide 87 by the number of numbers I have, which, in the examples case is 5.

87 / 5 = 17.4
