Firstly, make the denominators for both fractions the same. Convert the smaller denominator into the bigger one if possible. It is easier to change 5 into 10, hence
2/5 is multiplied by 2 in both the denominator and numerator,
2/5 then becomes 4/10.
Simply add the fractions up since the denominators are the same.
4/10 + 3/10 = 7/10
7/10 cannot be simplified further because 7 is not a factor of 10.
Ans: 7/10
