License plates in a particular state display 2 letters followed by 3 numbers. How many different license plates can be manufactured for this state?

    There are 26 letters in the alphabet, so you multiply 26 by how many possibilities there are. that would be 26 x 2. you would then multiply that answer (52) by the possible number combinations. there are 10 numbers you could possibly have (0-10) and you choose one of these numbers 3 times. you would multiply 10 x 10 x 10 which equals 1000, then multiply that by your previous answer for the letters, 52. 1000 x 52 = 52000 possible combinations
