    Ans: - 4:12:24

first add the ratios, that is = 10

    Then find the amount the 1st person payed = 1/10 * 40

    =4

    2nd person payed = 3/10*40=12

    3rd person payed = 6/10*40=24

    your answer is 4:12:24

    1:3:6 is equal to 10%, 30%, and 60%

    1 (or 10%) = $4

    3 (or 30%) = $12

    6 (or 60%) = $24
