An item has a listed price of $40. If the sales tax rate is 4%, how much is the sales tax (in dollars) ?

    Make 4% a decimal, which is. 04 and multiply that by the price, 40.00$ to get the tax, which is 1.60$, add this to 40.00$ to equal 41.60$
