just open both brackets than just add and subtract

Eliminate parenthesis by using the distribution property
= 5x² - 3x + 3 - x² - 2x + 1
Group similar terms
= (5-1) * x² + (-3 - 2) * x + (3+1)
Then sum everything:
= 4x² - 5x + 4
