Suppose a telephone pole 60 feet in height casts a shadow of length 80 feet. What is the angle of elevation from the end of the shadow to the top the pole with respect to the ground?

    Height = opposite side = 60 feet

    shadow = adjacent side = 80 feet

    angle = arc tangent (60/80) (or 3/4)

    arc tangent (.75) = 36.87 Degrees
