The height of a triangle is 5 more than double the base length. If the height of the triangle is 74 mm, what is the base length of the triangle?

    Height = 5+2xbase

    74 = 5+2xbase

    subtract 5 from both sides

    69 = 2xbase

    divide both sides by 2

    34.5mm = base length
