To put the number 58,000,000 in scientific notation, start off by moving the decimal of the number to the left or right until it is equal to or greater to 1 and less than 10. In this case, you would move the decimal right 7 times so that it looks like this: 5.8
Finally, turn the number into an expression where you multiply the number by 10 to the power of the amount of spaces you moved the decimal to until it was between 1 to 10.
