The sides of a rectangle have a length of x + 6 units and a width of 7 x - 2 units what is the perimeter of the rectangle, in terms of x?

    You have both sides twice, so the perimeter is:

    2 (x+6) + 2 (7x-2) = 2x+6+14x-4 = 16x+2
