35% + 15% = 50% of his money is being spent and 50% is being saved. If you wanted a specific number I would need to know the total amount of pocket money.

    Jack's spendings per week:

    Sweets: 15%

    Magazines: 35%

So, if you add these spendings up, it would be: 15% + 35%, which equals 50%

His total savings = 100% so you would have to subtract 50% which would give you 50%

The reason you subtract 50% from Jack's savings is because he spends 50% of his saving on sweets and magazines in total, and the left over 50% now goes into his savings.

So if his pocket money is $100 a week, Jack spends $15 on sweets and $35 on magazines, and saves $50.
