    Use Pythagorean theorem to get your data ... hypotenuse is 12 (c) and we know the base of 4 (a) ... so we find b.

    c^2 - a^2 = b^2

    12^2 - 4^2 = b^2

    128 = b^2 (get the sq root of each side)

    11.3 = b

    answer is A

    12^2 = 144

    we have to use pythagorean's theorem for this.

    We may say that the base is 4 feet and hypotenuse is 12

    144-16 = 128

    take the square root of 128 and you'll end up with 11.31which rounds up to 11 which is A
