    1/2 ... a perpendicular line will have negative reciprocal slopes ... all that means is " flip " the slope and change the sign. So the negative reciprocal of 1/2 = - 2/1 or just - 2. so we have to make d/3 = - 2 ... so for that to happen, d has to be - 6.
