8 (7-y) = - 24
56-8y = - 24 multiply 8 times what is in the parentheses
56 + 24 = 8y add 24 to each side to cancel out the - 24 and 8y to both sides to cancel out the - 8y
80 = 8y Divide both sides by 8
10 = y
