The probability that you roll a 3 on a six-sided die is start fraction one over six end fraction. The probability that you flip a coin that lands on tails is start fraction one over two end fraction. The probability that you roll a 3 on a six-sided die and you flip a coin that lands on tails is start fraction one over 12 end fraction. What is the probability of flipping a coin and it landing on tails, given that you rolled a 3 on a six-sided die? Are these two events independent?

    Seems like a trick question to me, I think what this question is asking is "If you roll a 3 on a die, what is the chance of getting tails on a coin." The answer would then be 1/2 (one over two) and the events are independent because rolling a 3 on a die doesn't affect the chances of getting tails on a coin.
