What is the value of x in this equation? 6x+8=3x-4

    To start with this equation, you subtract 3x from both sides so you can try to get x only on one side. Don't do anything with the other numbers just yet. You should get 3x+8=-4. Now, you subtract 8 from both sides, leaving it as 3x=-12. Divide both sides by 3 and you should get x=-4
