Why do you have to multiply or divide both the numerator and denominator of a fraction to find an equivalent fraction

    Because you must keep the value the same

    A "fraction" has to be equivalent from numerator to denominator. For an example 2/8 = 4/16 because you're multiplying by 2, and 4/16 = 2/8 because you're dividing by 2
