A bag contains eleven counters. five are white. a counter is taken out the bag and is not replaced. a second counter is taken out of the bag at random. calculate the probability that only one of the counters is white. give your answer as a fraction

    To determine the probability, you'll find first of the probability of getting a white counter, and then the probability that you will not get a white counter the second time or the probability of not getting a white counter the first time and getting a white counter the second time. Both would result in the same answers.

    5/11 x 6/10 or 6/11 x 5/10

    30/110 or 3/11 is your probability.
