There are 15 Blue Jays and 14 Orioles that wish rest on three older trees. Each of the trees will have at least 4 Blue Jays and 2 Orioles However, no tree may have more Orioles than Blue Jays in its branches. Determine the Largest number of birds that can be in one tree

    Ok. So first, we want to set 4 blue jays and 2 orioles on two of the trees. This gets rid of 8 of the blue jays and 4 of the orioles, leaving 7 blue jays and 10 orioles left to sit on the last tree. However, there would then be more orioles than blue jays on this tree. So just distribute 3 of the orioles to the other trees. Your final bird count on the trees should be:

    1: 4 blue jays and 4 orioles

    2: 4 blue jays and 3 orioles

    3: 7 blue jays and 7 orioles

    10 because 15 divided by 3 equals 5 and 14 divided by 3 equals 4 with a remainder of 2. This means there is at least 9 on each tree. There is that two remainder though so two of the three trees will have 5 Blue Jays and 5 Orioles (10 Birds)
