One sixth of the rocks mass was quartz. If the mass of the rock was 144 grams, what was the mass of the quartz in the rock?

    The answer is 24 grams because when you divide 144 by six it gives you 24. You have to divide 144 by 6 because when you divide it by six, it gives you one sixth of the total. Hope I didn't confuse you.
