    The formula for discriminant is:

    discriminant = sqrt (b^2 - 4 a c)

    Where,

    a = 1

    b = 4

    c = - 32

    Therefore:

    discriminant = sqrt (4^2 - 4 (1) (-32))

    discriminant = sqrt 144

    discriminant = 12

    Since the discriminant is a positive real integer, then there are 2 unequal roots or 2 distinct real roots.
