The way to solve this is simple subtraction of like terms after dealing with the negative.

    -4x-5 - (3x-2)

flip the signs associated with the negative (which is technically a - 1)

    -4x-5+3x+2

    -4x + 3x = - 1x=-x

    -5+2 = - 3

    -x-3
