So the first thing was graphing the lines normally.
The trick is to not think that we're shading left or right of the line, but top or bottom since the y axis goes up and down.
Now we have to shade. If it's y is greater than (>), that means you shade all the y values above the line.
If y is less than (<), shade below the line.

The first one would be the top half, the second would be the bottom half. It says that y is greater than in the first and less than in the second.
