    X+2y=-2

    2x-4y=0

    multiply the first equation by 2

    2x+4y=-4

    add this to the first equation

    2x+2x-4y+4y=0-4

    add like terms

    4x=-4

    divide both sides by 4

    x=-1

    subtitue into 1st equation

    -1+2y=-2

    add 1 to both sides

    2y=-1

    divide both sides by 2

    y=-1/2

    another way is

    since 2x-4y=0

    so 2x must equal 4y

    subtitue and get answer

    1. Let's solve for x

    . x + 2y = - 2

    Step 1: Add - 2y to both sides.

    x + 2y + - 2y = - 2 + - 2y

    x = - 2y - 2

    Answer: x = - 2y - 2

    2. Let's solve for x.

    2x - 4y = 0

    Step 1: Add 4y to both sides.

    2x - 4y + 4y = 0 + 4y

    2x = 4y

    Step 2: Divide both sides by 2.

    2x / 2 = 4y / 2

    x = 2y

    Answer: x = 2 y
