    X - a is divisor of f (x) if and only if f (a) = 0

    f (x) = x^2 - 1

    linear binomial: x + 1

    (x^2 - 1) / (x + 1) = (x + 1) (x - 1) / (x + 1) = x - 1

    hence is a divisor

    f (1) = 0

so it corroborates the reminder theorem
