    S + p = 40

    p = 2s

    s + 2s = 40

    3s = 40

    s = 40/3

    s = 13.333 rounds to 13.33 < = = cost of the shirt

    p = 2s

    p = 2 (13.333)

    p = 26.666 rounds to 26.67 < = = cost of pants
