The average rate of change is 3.

    9-3/3-1

    6/2

    3

(3,9) and (1,3) were the original coordinates and I just used the y2-y1/x2-x1 formula to find the average rate of change

    Average rate of change = (f (3) - f (1)) / (3-1)

    graph 2^x + 1

    (1) graph 2^x

    (2) move the graph up by 1
