Mark had 2 large cookies. He ate 1/4 of one cookie. How much of his cookie does he have left? Write the answer in the form of a mixed number.

    We will make 2 into a fraction, 2/1. Then, we will multiply it by 4 to get a common denominator. We have 8/4 now. Subtract 8/4 by 1/4, which will give us 7/4. Turn that into a mixed number.

    1 3/4 is our answer!
