What effect does doubling the radius of a cone's base have on the cone's volume?

    Volume of the cone:

    V = 1/3 r² π h

    If we double the radius:

    V 1 = 1/3 (2 r) ² π h = 4 · 1/3 r² π h

    V 1 = 4 V

    Answer: the volume becomes 4 times larger.
