3/4+1/4=1 4-8=-4 - 4x1=-4 im not entirely sure what the question but from what i derived from this ... this is my best guess at what you are looking for.

The given equation is 4 - 8 * [3/4 + 1/4]
- 4 * [3/4 + 1/4]
- 4 * 1 = - 4
The answer is - 4.
