    (x-2) (x+10) = 13

    x^2 + 10x - 2x - 20 = 13

    x^2 + 8x - 20 - 13 = 0

    x ^2 + 8x - 33 = 0

    (x + 11) (x - 3) = 0

    x + 11 = 0

    x = - 11

    x - 3 = 0

    x = 3

    The answer is clearly x = 3.

    Choice a.
