    Factor the following:

    x^2 - 36

    x^2 - 36 = x^2 - 6^2:

    x^2 - 6^2

    Factor the difference of two squares. x^2 - 6^2 = (x - 6) (x + 6):

    Answer: (x - 6) (x + 6)
