    Perimeter of a shape is the sum of all the side lengths of the shape. For a rectangle it is the sum of the two lengths and two widths. So, it is expressed as P = 2L + 2W. From this equation, we can calculate the width, if we are given the perimeter and the length of the rectangle. Before evaluating, it is important to remember that the units should be homogeneous or the same with each other. We do as follows:

    P = 2L + 2W

    2W = P - 2L

    W = P/2 - L

    P = 44 yards (3 ft / 1 yard) = 132 ft

    L = 36 ft

    Substituting the values given:

    W = 132/2 - 36

    W = 30 feet
