Subtracting a negative number from a negative number gives you what

    Depends.

    A. - 12 - - 6 = - 6

    but

    B. - 6 - - 12 = 6

    Two negatives always cancel, so the equation for A. would be like saying

    -12+6, and B. - 6+12.
