Find the number of real number solutions for the equation. x^2-13x+42=0

    Factor it:

    (x-6) (x-7) =

    x^2-7x-6x+42

    Steps to factoring:

    Find all numbers (as pairs) divisible by 42:

    (1,42) (2,21) (3,14) (6,7)

    Then find a pair that can, when using addition or subtraction get 13.

    6 and 7 does it. Now, since its a - 13, it has to be x-6-7=-13, so both sides should be subtraction. And x in the equation is just x, since there aren't any coefficients in front of it.
