A box contains 3 plain pencils and 9 plain pens. A second box contains 7 color pencils and 3 crayons. One item from the box is chosen at random. What is the probability that a plain pencil from the first box and a color pencil from the second box are selected?

    Box A contains = 3pain pencils and 9 plain pens

    Box B contains 7color pencils and 3 crayons

    probablilty=event space/sample space or number of outcome/total no. of possible outcome

    probability that a plain pencil from the first box will be selected = 3/11

    probability that a color pencil from the second box will be selected=7/10

    therefore probability that a plain pencil from the first box and a color pencil from second box will be selected=3/11 plus 7/10=110/110=1.

    therefore the answer is 1.
