What is the solution to the inequality 4 (x + 2) + 12 > 100

    First, subtract both sides by 12:

    4 (x + 2) + 12 > 100

    4 (x + 2) > 88

    While we could distribute the 4 into the parentheses and solve from their, it's so much easier and way less tedious to simply divide both sides by 4:

    4 (x + 2) > 88

    x + 2 > 22

    x > 20
