a = 16/3 or 5.3
Step-by-step explanation:
First you need to get "a" by itself and to do that you need to bring the + 1 over and to do that, you need to do its opposite which is subtraction. So you subtract it from both sides. So you then have 3/4a = 4. Now since you have a fraction you need to multiply by its reciprocal which is 4/3 on both sides. And end up with 16/3 or 5.3
